Kathy Selvaggi, M.D.
Kathy J. Selvaggi, M.D., F.A.C.P., received her medical degree from the Penn State University College of Medicine and completed her internship and residency training in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She served as chief medical resident at Shadyside Hospital, as well as a hematology/oncology fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a visiting fellow in the bone marrow transplant unit at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. In addition, she completed a Palliative Medicine fellowship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Selvaggi is the President of the Pennsylvania Division of the American Cancer Society and serves as a Pennsylvania Delegate to the National Division. She is the chief of Division of Palliative Medicine at the West Penn Allegheny Health System.
Dr. Selvaggi is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hospice and palliative medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She is a member of several professional and scientific societies including the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Dr. Selvaggi is the recipient of several awards, including the Faculty Teacher of the Year Award at the Shadyside Hospital in 1989, the American Cancer Society’s Lane Adams Award in 1999 and Best Doctors in American in 2005. She has also authored more than 20 publications.
